My pal Karen - aka the Oprah-appearing momversationalist - shared the contents of her bag the other day and there was no way I could let this one pass me by. For social anthropologists and nosey parkers the world over, here is the contents of my bag today:
- Fendi wallet, filled with receipts, stamps, a selection of cards, change and two ten-pound notes (bought in 2004 in the January sale on Sloane Street - still looks new)
- Vaseline lipbalm, rose flavour
- two Moleskine notebooks, one black reporter-style, one pink mini cahier
- Fujifilm Finepix F11 camera
- one pen, black ink
- purple iPod nano, 591 songs
- a no-frills Samsung mobile phone
- silk scarf
- sunglasses
- new book - The Sorrows of an American by Siri Hustvedt
- card from my mum
- various coins
not pictured: sunglasses case, lipstick case containing Clinique lipstick, emery board, emergency tampon, travel-size packet of Kleenex tissues, blossom petals found at the bottom of my bag from the other day in the botanical garden. They are still pink.
What's in your bag today?

*E-course update: there are only a few places left, so if you're thinking of joining us now is the time to do so. I can already feel the excitement of the new Unravellers - it's such fun to get to know them all, and here's one lady who will be one of your classmates: the lovely Mrs French.
* UPDATE @ 7:28pm: There are only FIVE places left - get 'em while they're still hot!
*UPDATE@ 10:26pm The class is now full - thank you so much everyone!

Isn't it fun to peek into other's handbags? In New York a few years ago they hosted a charity auction, with women donating their own handbag designs or handbags (after photographing the contents). Will take a pic of mine soon.

i know you ladies love handbags, but i have no idea how you carry those thingies around all the time, i recently went from wallet to money clip and i think next i'm just going to swallow what i need for the day and regurgitate it as i need it

I think several of us followed
today's photo adventure into
the depth of our handbags.
Amongst the usual contents
of lipstick, wallet, emergency
pads or tampon, other items
I found were a lollipop, my
small digi, a lint roller, journal,
a copy of Jhumpa Lahiri's book
Interpreter of Maladies, colored
pencils, pen, and a mini bag of
Orville Redenbacher's popcorn.
Oh! And a small chocolate egg.

The Sorrows of an American is a good book, but I really recommend her book 'What I Loved'. It's a beautiful book.

I swear I'd be sooo embarrassed to show the contents of my bag. Nowhere near as pretty and neat as yours!
Posted by: Rachel B. | Apr 17, 2009 at 04:17 PM
if I listed the contents of my purse, I'd take up this entire blog... seriously... carrying a huge bag right now and don't know why...everything from my phone charger to sunglasses to Chanel face powder, Dior concealer, Nars lipgloss (are you seeing a pattern of the fact that I love all things makeup?), Elph camera, 2 fountain pens... okay, I'll stop..
Congratulations on filling the class Susannah... I know I can't stop saying it, but CANNOT WAIT FOR IT TO BEGIN!
